Course Objectives (B1-B2)
Upon completion of this course, participants will have developed their Norwegian language skills to an independent and advanced level (B1–B2). They will be able to understand, discuss, and reflect on complex topics related to society, culture, and current affairs, while communicating with greater confidence, accuracy, and fluency. Participants will be able to comprehend nuanced and detailed content in complex texts, radio programmes, and podcasts covering a wide range of topics, including housing, parenting, personal finance, literary classics, historic sporting events, technology, and political systems. They will also be able to express and justify their opinions in a clear, well-structured manner, discussing both everyday topics such as online dating, public health campaigns, and holiday traditions, as well as more abstract issues including financial hardship, artificial intelligence, and future environmental technologies. In writing, participants will progress from simple descriptive texts to producing formal, genre-appropriate writing, including argumentative essays, complaint letters, insurance claim reports, and extended reflections on literature and social issues. They will develop the ability to write with greater coherence, precision, and stylistic awareness while adapting their language to different audiences and purposes. The course also strengthens participants' sociocultural competence by exploring distinctive aspects of Norwegian society and culture, such as greeting customs, the russefeiring graduation tradition, and Taco Friday, while examining topics including minority history, national heroes, and the opportunities and challenges of the Norwegian welfare state. To achieve greater fluency and linguistic precision, participants will master advanced sentence structure, cohesive devices, punctuation, and the nuanced use of Norwegian verb tenses, including the distinction between the simple past (preteritum) and the present perfect (presens perfektum). They will also build a broad and sophisticated vocabulary that includes idiomatic expressions, synonyms, antonyms, and nuanced language, enabling them to communicate spontaneously and effectively in professional, academic, and everyday settings.

You can easily place an order through our website. Simply choose your preferred course, add it to your shopping cart, proceed to checkout, enter your billing details, and select your preferred payment method.
Do your courses work on mobile phones and tablets?
Yes, they do. However, we recommend using a computer for the best possible learning experience.
Can I register for the exam with you?
Unfortunately, private course providers are not permitted to conduct Norwegian exams. This means it is not possible to take the exam with us. For more information about approved examination locations and regulations, we recommend visiting the website of HK-dir: https://prove.hkdir.no/en/norwegian-language-test-a1-b2
Is your school approved by the UDI?
Yes, it is. You can see that our school is approved by UDI and HK-dir, the authority responsible for approving providers of Norwegian language and social studies courses. Our approval is valid until 31 December 2028, and it will be renewed for an additional three years as part of a standard renewal process. We have already been approved for seven years.

No, you do not need to take any tests. We have no admission requirements and do not conduct tests or exams. Our courses are open to anyone who wants to improve their Norwegian language skills.
Can my company pay for the course and receive an invoice?
Yes, that is possible. If your employer is paying for the course, please contact us at post@note.no so we can send you an order form instead of placing the order through our website. Once the completed form is submitted, we will invoice the company based on the provided information. After the invoice has been issued, the student will be granted access to the selected course.
What is the difference between the self-study course and the individual courses?
The self-study course is designed for independent learning without teacher interaction or contact with other NoTe students. It does not include live teaching sessions or feedback on submitted assignments, which are included in the individual course packages.
